Good evening everyone!

11:36
and welcome to the Charlemont Forum!

12:01
Good evening. I’m Peter de Menocal, your host for the Charlemont Forum, and I’m delighted to welcome you to this evening’s program. Tonight is a second time in the elven year history of the Charlemont Forum that we are not being hosted by the Charlemont Federated Church where all our programs have previously taken place. Instead, due to the mandate for social distancing, we are using this Zoom technology to bring the program not only to the hill towns of Western Massachusetts but also to friends elsewhere in the U. S.

12:14
Before we begin, I want to acknowledge the wonderful support the Charlemont Forum has received from the many Cultural Councils here in Western Massachusetts. We are especially grateful this year to those Councils in Amherst, Ashfield, Buckland, Charlemont/Hawley, Colrain, Conway, Goshen, Heath, Plainfield, Rowe, and Shelburne, all of whom are also members of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

12:29
We are also very appreciative to the many individuals who have made contributions to the Charlemont Forum. If you would like to join them, I encourage you to write a check to CFC/Charlemont Forum and mail it c/o the Charlemont Federated Church, P O Box 230, Charlemont, Mass. The zip is 01339. Your contributions are tax deductible. I’ll plan on giving you the address AGAIN at the end of the evening so you might want to keep a pencil and paper handy at that time.
