For the ninth year, the Arts Arena presents L’Europe autour de l’Europe film festival, this year with a screening of the documentary and dance film Ingmar Bergman Through the Choreographer’s Eye.

Ingmar Bergman Through the Choreographer’s Eye Four of Sweden’s most innovative choreographers travel to Ingmar Bergman’s home on Fårö to explore and find inspiration. The result is a unique contemporary dance film in which renowned choreographers Alexander Ekman, Pär Isberg, Pontus Lidberg and Joakim Stephenson interpret Ingmar Bergman, with principal dancers Jenny Nilson, Nathalie Nordquist, Oscar Salomonsson and Nadja Sellrup from the Royal Swedish Ballet.

These unique dance performances, which reflect on human relations and intense feelings, are linked together by images of Fårö, with its natural beauty, and Bergman’s home, Hammars. The voice of the master, Bergman himself, enters as a voice-off revealing his thoughts about movements and music.

Film Director Fredrik Stattin and Executive Producer Ingmar Bergman, Jr. will introduce and discuss the film before its screening, and festival founder and director Irena Bilic will lead a Q&A afterward.

Focused on “films d’auteur,” L’Europe autour de l’Europe aims to create links between the classics of European cinema and today’s cinema and between national cinemas and the Greater Europe. Find out more at their website: http://evropafilmakt.com/2020/
